Jan 9, 2012

I put Ellie to bed tonight. 2nd night in a row. Last night was a breeze, she pretty much wore herself out at Jack & Sylvia's. I can remember when she would just fit in one arm. I would sway her back and forth, football style. now i have to use both arms, and keep her just as close. off to bed, another 10 hour work day awaits...I'm thinking it's not so bad working all these hours this month, in hopes it will relieve the monetary stress of next month, with me having a few weeks out. Nala's ETA 6 weeks & 6 days, Jenn thinks she will come a couple of weeks early. I agree, and trust me, I don't mind!

Cheers!

catching up...

I was quite beat Wednesday. a long long 12 hour day at the DC, so I just came home showered and went to bed. Spent a a little time with Ellie, then just passed out entirely, until 10:00, got some water and back to bed for me, unfortunately Jenn was in Nala's room, "nesting."
The next day went by slow as molasses for 10 hours, cutting boxes, cutting plastic...you know, the old routine. All I could think about were my girls. I called Jenn at lunch and talked to Ellie a bit on the phone...Jenn kept coaxing her to say hello, all the while she just kept repeating, "Daddy?" "Hello Ellie!" I replied. Jenn got back on, after Ellie reluctantly gave back the phone, I told her that it was going to be another long day, but at least I will be home during daylight hours. She gave the phone back to a whining Ellie and asked her to say "bye bye to daddy." and "I love you daddy." She said, "bye bye."
Now, let me preface this with the past 6 months, instead of "I love you", she would say "Happy." we thought it was the cutest thing, and still do, even so far as to say it to each other when I leave for work or part ways on the phone, but today, I distinctly heard, "Love you...Daddy." and that my friends, is the shiznit.
Friday was good, left work at 3:30, came home and relaxed for a bit while Ellie napped. We were scheduled to take pregnancy photos from a close, dear friend. I showered and got ready, got Ellie ready and headed out the door. The photo session was good, I entertained Ellie most of the time, but let her roam free a bit, to wear her out so maybe she could fall asleep on the way home.  Not successful on wearing her out but she did go to sleep fairly well when we got back. I think Jenn put her down at 10:00 or so. I slept great.
Jenn & Ellie came in at 8:30am or so I was not ready to wake up so I was a bit cranky, none the less, we had a lot to do today.  We got ready and headed out by 11...not bad. Made a couple of stops and then it was time for lunch. Barnwood Grill one of our favorite weekend lunch spots before we had to tighten the budget. Go there. It is fantastic! We walked in, Jenn new a few folks that were eating so she talked to them while I decided what I wanted to eat, even though I new what I wanted, the same thing I always get, Steve's Burger with Bacon.
After placing our order, we sat and talked to the family that Jenn knew, a missionary family Jenn went to church with prior to our relationship. Ellie was sitting in a "big girl chair", as we like to call it, only for about 10 or 15 minutes then roamed around the tiny eating area. she got up and went to the table the family was sitting at and gave them hugs and walked around to one of the ladys' plates, and took a french fry, RIGHT OFF THE PLATE! We all thought it was funny and the lady said with a grin, " I was just about to ask her if she wanted one!" I said she must have ESP, she read your mind! We have had a great weekend so far...only 6-7 short weeks until Nala's arrival. I pray I can get enough time off to help Jenn to become acclimated to 2 children in the house at all times, all the while make enough money to support my family. I keep looking for something to come along, but I keep thinking about the restaurant I want to open, but that is another story. Until then, Cheers!
Have a great day, Everyday!

grocery shopping with the bug...

she's so hell-bent on getting a balloon usually, but not today. i think it was because we went on a Wednesday...an ass ton of people!!! saw a former work mate, along with his wife, he saw Ellie via photos Jenn took and sent them to me on our lunch break. He looked forward to them every chance I could display them. Jenn, Ellie and I talked to a few more folks, mostly Ellie and i, so Jenn could focus and get the things we needed. going back to the car Ellie looked up and said "Moon?" that's my favorite word of hers, besides Daddy of course. i love how there is a question but also a bit of assurance in her young voice, I hope she may fulfill one of my childhood dreams and go to the moon some day. it's 3 till 7, time to have our nightly tv time...Wheel of Fortune!!! I'd like to learn Pat Sajack's secret to looking so  youthful all these years...30 years to be exact, this passed December. Till tomorrow!

Cheers!

32nd Birthday

today is the 32nd year of my being, well technically, according to some I guess it would be going into my 33rd, given the 9 months in utero. I woke up to yellow ledbetter by pearl jam. 3 times... damn the snooze. took a shower,  used a pair of $10 tweezers to pluck a few beard hairs out, some abnormally long ones and yes, some gray ones. trimmed with a broken razor, hoping that the ridiculous amount of hair didn't clog the sink again. heated a bagel in the toaster, went outside to warm up the car, cause it was damn near freezing out at quarter passed 5 in the morning. came back inside to  find that the bagel was cold, so, i pressed the lever on the toaster to warm it, just a bit, lost track of time. bagel was burned. screw it, i put a gob of cream cheese on each half, made a glass of juice in my cup I had received from a former employer...damn, I wish i had that job still. Placed last night's leftover asparagus risotto that I had in one of those sandwich meat containers, in a grocery bag. kissed my wife good day, went to Ellie's room, opened the door and contemplated kissing her bye bye, but thought against as to not to wake her.
proceeded to work, couldn't find a damn thing on the radio, all we have is top 40 crap, and an ass ton of country stations, I managed to find 88.1 the Clemson station, it was not what I was in the mood for either. popped the cd function on my stereo and listened to The Streets. A British rapper my friend Alex turned me on to...very good beats. ate the Cream cheese stuffed bagel as I was driving along the dark city streets, I knew all that shit would get in my beard. that's why i took an extra napkin. the acidity of the juice helped me swallow the burnt, chewy pieces of bread. tight turn up ahead, must slow down, hope there are no deer out this morning, ahhh safe and sound. yep, cream cheese in my beard and on my favorite hoodie,,,damn. not much traffic this way, that's nice. now,  now to find a parking space...this guy at the guard shat doesn't care who comes in I think, he just waves me on whether I have my badge or not, nice guy though, im sure. parking is so much easier on this shift, yes! got one in the first row. ok badge, knife, pen, marker, phone, music, lunch. damn its cold out side! lock doors. glad I got my beanie today. going in the doors of the vitamin plant. all i can think is, 10 hours, glad i don't have to work em' today! Dentist appointment appropriately scheduled today! get me some crappy free coffee, well at least it's free. stand around for a few minutes look at the clcok...5:58 am. 24 minutes till i turn 32! Happy birthdays come from my supervisors, after a couple of subtle hints. cut boxes, cut plastic, 2 hours flown by! time for break!  text Jenn, she calls. Ellie has been up since 7 or so. they are eating breakfast. Me? I'm not so hungry, ill just have another free coffee. I wish those 15 minutes would just creep by, instead, like a freight train they speed past. go back to work, cut boxes, cut plastic, 2:30, 2:30. come on 2:30! Justin brought me an energy drink for my birthday. Very cool man. :) time for Break! heat the risotto in one of the 4 microwaves we have for like 35 people. sheesh. I bet my pee will smell funny for the rest of the day! (it did) why does asparagus do that, again? Talk to Jenn - Wishes me a happy birthday :)  get back to work...cut, cut, cut. break time! a co worker is crying, is her mother ok? no, another problem has come to pass, I don't know what to say to her, all i can do is shake my head in disappointment. give her a pat of encouragement and off I go! Coming home to my beautiful house. My wife is walking into the bedroom, Ellie is napping in her crib. The sun is shining. I love it when I come home from work. I have to leave again, i have that Dentist appointment. Jenn wants me to take the vacuum to the shop, this thing is definitely from the 80s it's blue and it's a hoover and it reads decade 80 on it, in a kind of 2001: A Space Odyssey font. i load it into the car, and proceed to my appointment  I get to the dentist office and am greeted with a smile from the lady at the counter and a happy birthday! As the other assistants come out to wish me a happy birthday, I say, "Thank you, Happy New year!" I get a check up on the whiteness of my teeth after bleaching them for a month. good things. The dentist comes in, we start chatting about the new arrival in February and all the while the others were getting together to bring me a birthday cake. that's just awesome.  I am very grateful to call my dentist my friend, honestly, who does that for a patient? I know this is a bit long, I think the future posts will just be highlights of my day...this one can keep going, right up to this period (.) TIME FOR THE BED. WHAT AN AWESOME DAY.
